How do you keep your brain active?
Keeping my brain active and healthy is something I have always been mindful of. In the words of my very intelligent Father “you should never stop learning”. I would add “or challenging yourself to be better”.
My youngest sister passed away at 13 after her 7th brain operation and it gave me a reality check about being as healthy as I can be and making the most of the life I get to live.
Recently one of my clients introduced me to the terrific game of marble solitaire, for which I am so thankful as I love it.
If you have 5 minutes and need to reset your mind while challenging it in the most rewarding way, the game of marble solitaire is certainly an enjoyable way to do so. It is also suitable for all fitness levels. I have a suspicion that lefties and engineers may have an advantage. I am ambidextrous and play music left handed. Not sure quite where this puts me.
The great thing is you play it on your own and so your competition is yourself. There are many ways you can play and directions to move your marbles, as you skip over the adjacent marble with the aim of having one solitary marble left. You can follow a pattern or move from right to left, you are in charge. The act of placing the marbles back in their place for the next game gives you the chance to reflect and reset.
Why this really appeals to me is because I love strategy and problem solving and orderly patterns. I bought my Mother a game for Christmas and we talk about it as a military operation. What you don’t want to do, is leave one of your soldiers too far out as you may not be able to get back to save them.
Slow down, take a break from social media or people in general and do something to keep your brain sharp.
Feel free to contact me and tell me all about your game and strategy and the joy you feel when you have one solitary marble on your board. Also if you want to talk about Financial Planning, we can do that too.
I would recommend choosing colored marbles that contrast vastly from the board, trust me on this.
